A PROFESSIONAL performer who would normally be working overseas says he is grateful to have spent the past year safely riding out the coronavirus pandemic on the Gold Coast. He now wants to show the city his appreciation. Aaron Smyth will join about 1000 others on Burleigh Beach as part of a new tourism campaign aimed at showing off the Coast’s stunning beaches and envious lifestyle. The Gold Coast Beach Parade will try to claim a world record on May 16 for the greatest number of people wearing koala ear visors involved in a beach walk.
All entrants’ fees will go to the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital Foundation to support the region’s koalas. Mr Smyth said the parade would be a chance to show his appreciation for the city before heading back to America to continue his career. Check-in starts from 8am at Justins Park, The Esplanade, Burleigh Heads. For information, visit goldcoastbeachparade.com.au
