A baby koala blimp was flying high over Burleigh Beach this morning to mark one month until the Gold Coast Beach Parade.

Measuring in at 5.3 metres wide and 6 metres tall, ‘Burleigh’ the koala blimp was unveiled as the mascot for the event, which will take place on May 16.

Organiser Leanne St Geroge told myGC the event hopes to set a world record for the greatest number of people wearing koala ear visors involved in a beach parade, as well as raise funds to protect koalas.
